Last Sunday, 8/6, Constantine posed a question to me along the lines of “Imagine a door that calls you to open it. What does it look like to you? What form would it take and how would it be presented? On paper? A digital representation?”.

I had many thoughts about how the door might be represented. The Doors of Durin from Lord of The Rings floated through my head as well as The Room of Requirement from Harry Potter. I think the room that the door leads too is important in considering what the door looks like.

I am unsure what Constantine was looking for specifically when he posed the question to me. Was the point of this question simply to gain insights? I thought this was the case, but the question about what medium I preferred made it seem like I might be actually creating the door.

I feel that Constantine wants me to figuratively start opening doors into Athens’ Own, to rooms of further understanding and engagement. I think the doors are unlocked, but I do not think I can clearly see them yet. Maybe this question about the door that demands to be opened will help me with my vision.

  1. You said your preference in creating a ‘door’ is in the digital realms.
Do you have any prototypes at this time?
If not, what is an eta for submission?

    • My preference in creating a door is in the digital realm as I have more experience there, though I am not a talented designer in any medium. I will post a prototype shortly.

  2. Hi!
    I have read this log.
I do not understand the nature of the project.

    PR said CF asked:
“Imagine a door that calls you to open it.
What does it look like to you?
What form would it take and how would it be presented?
    On paper?
    A digital representation?”.

It is easy for me to imagine multiple doors inviting me to enter various realms.
    A door calling me…
It is a welcoming door with a window in it.
I can see a warm, relaxing bluish hue emanating from it.
I crack the door where I see a circle of people smiling, laughing and pursuing collaborative efforts toward their shared goals.
I have depicted this door and the activities taking place in the room via the written medium many times.
    Digitally?
I have visited many web sites that have such a door on their main page, inviting people to enter.

Is that anywhere near what might have been the intent of the questions?
    k

    • The intent of the question is to catalyze introspection. Beyond that, anything near and dear to the participant is valid. In this case, PR was being similarly queried on what “door” would appeal to him enough to want to open it, to pursue the necessary steps to be a able to open it.

Digital refers to methodology of the door’s creation: Paper, mental, digital technologies(to include interactive possibilities).
