Resume Resources

When was the last time you updated and streamlined your resume? At Athens’ Own, our worker readiness certification will show future employers you are the best of the best, and we want to help you build your future. But companies won’t hire you if you send them a sloppy, unappealing resume. If your resume doesn’t pop out of the pile, it will end up in the trash can.

Check out these links for some helpful resume writing tips! We can’t put enough emphasis on making your resume neat, streamlined, to-the-point, and tailored to the specific position you are applying for.

How about your cover letter? Does it make employers want to call you right away? Or does it sound like you are writing a (boring!) book about your life? Does it use language effectively to showcase your talents while keeping the reader interested? Do you know how long is too long? (It’s less than you think!) Do you know how to properly format a business letter? Do you know the title of the person you are sending it to? These are the little things that make a BIG difference.

Do your research, and find some resources on your own. University professors are another great resource.
